Bits and Pieces

Discover the latest updates and news on our variety of ongoing projects. Stay informed and explore the features that Whispering Wind Ranches has to offer.

We completed installing all of our wool batting insulation and all of our tongue and groove!  We got a last coat of paint on the windows both interior and exterior!  We are getting ready to paint the tongue and groove, and set our kitchen cabinets!  Then I can paint the trim and get all the interior trim done.  I am still looking for a tile installer! We had to special order one cabinet for the kitchen, as soon as it arrives, we can get those lowers painted and installed. We have to build a special cabinet for our country style sink, and we had to do a little reconfiguring as we are the lucky owners of a brand new 42 inch Wolf Commercial Stove and a new wider commercial range hood!  We have had to make a few changes as we are doing the finish work but thats how it goes!

Wildlife Habitat

Tis the season to start the seed planting and irrigation!  FOr the next 3 weeks that will be out "life".We will plant an additional 28 acres of meadow this spring! While in the big scheme of things that seems small, but in our community, its a pretty big deal!  If everying could commit to even planting  a third of an  acre of native grass and wildflowers all of our communbities would be a much better place!  We have replaced all of our watering buckets now so unless we have a catastrophe will should be good for another 3 years, then the cycle of replacement starts again! That will give us time to upgrade other aspects of our watering and catchment systems! We have some big plans!

Fall and Harvest Gardening,  DIY series, Fall Guide to exploring the Canyon... and more!

We have been gaining followers on facebook and our IG is growing.  However, we are entertaining some rumble and other video ideas.  Surely that wont be on Meta/Facebook platform however, because.. well honestly, I bought their awful glasses, and let them know how much i think they suck.  I think they may have been my worst purchase of 2024, and perhaps even of the decade...honestly! As soon as we know a handle for Rumble I will let you know but we are also on X @RanchesWind

Fundraising Needs

We are currently accepting donations for our Spring Planting,Water Hauling and Planting. We are always looking to plant more trees and accept tree donations in any amount! We are also looking to set up watch cams so you can watch the wildlife abounding our ranch! This would be offered as a subscription service! BUT All of this depends on you all! Our friends, fans, family, and followers! So join us this spring as we clean up, plant native grasses, wildflowers, and trees, and bring our landscapes back to life! Your support helps restore habitats, boost biodiversity, and create a greener future. 🌍 Every donation plants a seed of hope! 💚

Calls to Action

Under the Trump administration, the USDA has launched the "Farmers First" initiative, which includes a Small Family Farms Policy Agenda with proposals aimed at supporting farmers.

Here's a breakdown of key areas:

 Supporting Small and Family Farms:

  • Streamlining Access to Resources: The USDA is working to simplify application processes for programs and improve access to credit, farmland, and markets.

  • Ensuring Farmland is Used for Farming: Policies are being developed to ensure that working farmland remains in agricultural production.

  • Facilitating Farm Transfers: The USDA aims to make it easier for small farms to be passed down to the next generation.

  • Hyperfocusing USDA Programs: The initiative seeks to ensure that USDA programs are effectively serving the needs of farmers.

 Access to Credit and Capital:

  • Direct Farm Ownership Loans: Loans up to $600,000 are available to help farmers purchase farmland or build structures.

  • Direct Operating Loans: Loans up to $400,000 are provided for equipment, seed, livestock, and other operating costs.

  • Guaranteed Loans: Private loans backed by USDA guarantees reduce lender risk and improve access to credit for new farmers.

  • Down Payment Loan Program: This program helps new farmers purchase land with a minimal down payment.

 Conservation Programs:

  • Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP): Cost-share assistance is provided for implementing conservation practices on working lands.

  • Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP): This program rewards farmers for ongoing stewardship and advanced conservation practices.

  • Agricultural Land Easement (ALE): Funds are provided for permanent easements to protect agricultural lands.

 Other Support Programs:

  • Rural Energy for America Program (REAP): REAP offers grants and loan guarantees to help farmers, ranchers, and rural small businesses with energy production and efficiency projects.

  • Value-Added Producer Grant (VAPG): This program helps agricultural producers enter value-added activities to generate new products and expand market opportunities.

Trade and Market Access:

  • Trade Initiatives: The Trump administration has focused on expanding market access and addressing trade barriers for American farmers and ranchers.

  • Trade Agreements: The administration has aimed to negotiate trade agreements that support American agricultural exports.
